Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 - before you die, watch some goddamn japanese horror.
3:13 pm
i have fallen deeply in love with japanese horror movies. a month or so ago, the boyfriend and i rented a movie called "Odishon" ("Audition"). I firmly believe that movie was the single most disturbing film i've ever seen. there's just something about the tension, how you're shown things yet not shown them, how the film preys on your uncertainties.

so i am now in love with the japanese and their ability to convey horror.

on my list of must see films: "Ringu" ("Ring"), the original, japanese, version of the american film "The Ring"; "Kyua" ("Cure"), about psychically induced killings linked by an X cut into the victim's neck; "Kairo" ("Pulse"), about tokyo teens being haunted by a dead friend; "Ju-on", about a ghostly curse that spreads when the ghosts kill others; "Battle Royale", about a group of students sent to an island and commanded to kill each other; "Honogurai mizu no soko kara" ("Dark Water"), about a mother and child who move into a haunted apartment...

there's more, but i'm tired of writing this. my neck hurts. i was in a car accident with my parents yesterday and i think i got a bit whiplashed.

If the world could remain within a frame like a painting on a wall then I think we'd see the beauty then we'd stand staring in awe at our still lives posed like a bowl of oranges, like a story told between the fault lines and the soil. ~ Bright Eyes - Bowl of Oranges

...or the story is in the soil, keep your ear to the ground.
