Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 - the drunk kids, the catholics, they're all about the same.
7:40 am
listening to: bright eyes - on my way to work
wishing i had: the new bright eyes christmas album i ordered

i am a naughty little child. i peek at my christmas presents every year. and this year, i commend my mother for not even making a single attempt to hide them. you make it so easy, mom! i walk in my parents bedroom, go "oh, look, poster tube! i wonder where that's from...saddle-creek.com? Yup, that's mine." go in the closet...squishy package about the correct size to hold a t-shirt..."hmmm...what's this? saddle-creek.com as well? MINE TOO! YAY!"

so despite the fact that i will more than likely not be getting a television, i will at least be getting the desparecidos poster, the oh holy fools poster, the lifted poster, and one or possibly two of the shirts i asked for. which makes this the first christmas in a very very very long time i'll have gotten some of the EXACT items i wanted.

*insert happy dance*

i am a pleased kitty. now it just needs to be christmas. and i need to figure out what in the hell to buy my friends and family and boyfriend and i'll be set. it's the boyfriend that'll be really hard. i have no idea at all what to buy the boy. something spiderman, maybe? perhaps i'll bug dan to help me come up with something.

i want my damn bright eyes christmas album to get here NOW!!! but, alas, it does not ship til december 1st.

yes, i am what is known as a geek fan.

to prove this:

i got a hamster this week. here he is.

his name is des. which, yes, IS short for desaparecidos.

shut up. don't look at me like that.

i find it weird that articles about conor oberst often compare his music to that of elliot smith (my favorite musician until my senior year of high school) and nick drake (whose pink moon album i picked up my freshman year of high school, and became rather obsessed with the music of until i saw it in VW commercials.)

natural progression, anyone?

my music just skipped from bright eyes to quarashi. THEY KICK ASS. *sings* i'm on the mic like a fascist! *sings*

i so want to go run around now. goddamnit. i wish the tape deck in my car functioned. because i'd so go cruise right about now blaring quarashi and apples in stereo and other happy music. like desparecidos and rage against the machine.

i've been in "angry politico-rock mode" as of late. i think it's just the state of the world anymore. i can't believe people aren't fighting for their basic rights as set out in the constitution, as well as the implied ones.

you know, hitler was elected too. the difference being, hitler was INTELLIGENT. he was a crazy mass-murdering fuckhead, but he was smart. bush isn't. i have this sinking feeling that cheney is the mastermind here. and what i don't understand is the blind following of authority after september 11.

ATTENTION YOU FUCKERS THAT ALL PUT FLAGS ON YOUR CAR AFTER 9/11/01!!!!

you should be required to put this sticker on your car:

heh.

this is long enough.

kate out.

If the world could remain within a frame like a painting on a wall then I think we'd see the beauty then we'd stand staring in awe at our still lives posed like a bowl of oranges, like a story told between the fault lines and the soil. ~ Bright Eyes - Bowl of Oranges

...or the story is in the soil, keep your ear to the ground.
